so I am currently 28 days away from my sched c section! I am so excited to meet this little guy. This is my second c section, but my first was an emergency after a very long labor. honestly I was so tired, and i had gotten my epidural about 20 min before the decided on the c section so things were a lil different. my main questions are first off will my back be numbed before i get my spinal block. i am really scared of needles and im pretty sure i have to go back alone to get prepped sooo just hope that i dont have to have that pain. i know im a wussy! also i know i have to get a catheter will that be put in after my body is numb or before sooo hoping before. any other advice from previous mothers with c sections would be great. Im hearing its easier to recover the second time around....any bonding problems after c section or breast feeding problems sorry im just nervouse and excited i cant help it im sure you know what i mean. any word back would be great thanks ahhh surgery is scary but it will soooo be worth it!

Yes, they will numb your back first.

However, it's a bit scary - I had exactly the same sequence as you, and first time round I wanted the epidural so bad I didn't even think about it. Second time round I thought about it...

The catheter goes in after you are numb. Is that what you meant? I'm confused by why you'd want it put in before, when it would hurt!

It is MUCH easier to recover from a planned C-section than an emergency one, because the operation is so much easier for them when you are not in labour. If you have tightness or pulling in your stomach from adhesions from the first one, tell the surgeon and he/she will sort them out for you at the same time :)

Breastfeeding, bonding etc...just fine.

Good luck!

You can request them to numb the area prior. You will fill it for only a sec since the lidocaines quick acting. I believe they usually do that first anyway. You can ask them if they'll give you something threw you iv to valm your nerves rite before any needle action takes place. The cath. Wont be felt at all when its given. Yes they give it after your numb. Theres no reason to have one before since you can still get up an walk around. If they try to before just ask it be done after. I too had a emergency c section an did have issues w/my milk supply. Did you have problems producing for your other child? Its very important the 1st month you body produces a good milk supply because thats when the body figures out how much you'll produce from then on. Talk w/ your DR. About the meds available if you do have trouble. My dr. Proscribed Reglan to help me produce. seemed to work. Drink tons of WATER is really the true answer to milk production. Ppl i know who had c sections had trouble too.Good luck enjoy

You will have a local anaesthetic injected around the site of the spinal, which doesn't hurt but feels strange - a bit like being flicked with an elastic band.

You will be catheterised after your spinal is working - you won't feel it.

Your recovery will be much easier this tiime - but not because of your previous section - it's because it's planned. Emergency sections after long labours are harder to recover from - I know this from bitter experience!

Good luck!

Hey I also had a emergancy c section with my baby, ask them to let you feed the baby as soon as possible to start the bonding, you will see the sooner you feed the better you will feel and baby will be happy to be close to mom. I had my needles without any numbing and i hardly felt anything, almost just like someone pinched me...dont stress and I wish you all the luck, may you and your little bundle be blesses.

My wife didn't get her back numbed but said the needle didn't hurt too bad. The catheter went in after she was all numb and stuff. Baby and mom got along just fine but I did most of the work cause she was recovering from surgery. She breast fed just fine.

Congrats at the twins! I did not have any swelling in any respect... however I'd discover that involving. Watch your salt consumption, severely. Make certain your pee is nearly transparent by way of the top of the day - that is a well option to understand you've gotten had adequate fluids. Just watch out and the incision can not open. I had dissolving stitches, so I have no idea what the wound is like after being stapled. As an extra mother stated, fetal function was once relaxed for me, despite a pillow among the knees, or a duvet bunched up. --- My tale. I needed to have an emergency c-phase after an afternoon of labour (I was once brought on a couple of days after due date due to the fact little one was once getting too giant) - ended up that the wire was once round his neck two times, so it was once horrifying whilst his center cost dropped fairly low, they usually had me so speedy within the working room. Had to be placed out due to the fact of time, so I did not see my little one for an hour and a part! I consider waking for a second, and simply requested if the little one was once ok, then conked out once more. Anyway, little one was once high-quality and healthful and all was once well. Went for my six week checkup at seven weeks (busy document), within the morning. Now this was once starting of December, so it was once bloodless. In the afternoon, I began feeling nauseated, most often now not well, and fairly sizzling. Just unnoticed it most of the time as I taken care of my son within the afternoon. However, past due afternoon, I was once getting extreme suffering in my reduce stomach, and fortunately my husband got here house. I simply passed him the little one, began crying and advised him I needed to get to emergency - anything felt very incorrect. (We lived around the area from the health center.) He requested what was once incorrect, then whilst I confirmed in which the suffering was once - there, beneath my stomach button within the center of my stomach was once this large, pink raised circle, simply burning sizzling, larger than a saucer. RAN to emergency - they placed me instantly on IV antibiotics - they could not diagnose it instantly. It harm like hell. They made me keep in a single day (now detect it is a seven week ancient who had to stick with my husband! Actually, he was once only a trooper; I simply had to give an explanation for the right way to make system once more to him.) Next day, noticed a expert, and it grew to become out I had cellulitis, that's an totally harmful illness. Ended up staying on IV within the health center 3 days I believe. So, seems this giant bugger of an illness recurred simply each time it felt love it - as soon as a 12 months, two times a 12 months... would discover no correlation as to whilst/why it might occur once more. I might have got the illness from the c-phase.... now not from the incision, however a systemic illness. But little one grew to become out best and surely distinctive! -- Hope you are ok; well good fortune!
