I AM LOOKING FOR DIRECT INFORMATION TO SUBMIT MY 2 YR OLD SON INTO MODELING, I WOULD LOVE TO GET HIM INTO MAGAZINE AND CATALOG PRINT, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY TIPS, SUGGESTIONS OR INSIDE INFORMATION ON HOW TO PROCEED? I'VE RESEARCHED MANY COMPANIES ONLINE, HOWEVER, THEY ALL WANT FEES UPFRONT TO REPRESENT HIM AND I'VE RESEARCHED ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER PAY FOR MODELING UNLESS HE HAS LANDED A JOB... CAN ANYONE OUT THERE ASSIST? THANK YOU WORLD WIDE WEB...

If a child has an outgoing personality, modeling can be a great outlet for them. I am a 14 year old model. I started at age 13 which is a difficult age to start out. The first thing you need to do is get your sons portfolio (book of photographs) started. You DO NOT have to spend a fortune on your photographs. There are many ways to find great photographers in your area that will be willing to do a TFP (time for print) w/ your son. This means; you use the pictures for self promotion and the photog uses the pics for self promotion. No money exchanges hands and the photos CAN NOT be sold. This is a great way to build a portfolio. There are lots of websites available to help you network and meet photographers. One I like is onetalentsource.com it is one of the few site that is strictly pg rated. There are models and photographers alike from all over the country in this community and it is a great way to meet. Also many casting/print work calls are posted on here. Another site is exploretalent.com and elitecastingnetwork.com I like all of these. After you get some decent photos, look for a good agent in your area. Exploretalent.com has lists by state that you can use. Just make sure your little one is having fun. There is a lot of need for little cuties out there!

You shouldn't do it just yet. Wait until your child is older to see if this is something your son actually wants to do. You could always enter him into baby contests (baby magazines always advertise them, and also I know Regis and Kelly do them fairly often). That way if he won he would get into a magazine and get "noticed" maybe, but it doesn't cost anything. But pushing the little guy into a modeling career at 2 seems a little much to me. Let him be a kid!

Let's think about Jonbennet Ramsey. Everything I have seen or read says that modeling, pagents etc is not good for kids. They already have so much pressure. A couple photographers wanted my parents to let me model at that age, and when I was older, but they refused. I am glad that they did, I was able to model when I was older, more mature and aware I was not the center of the universe.
