My mom and my mother-in-law are going to make me a baby shower in July. It's going to be at 2 pm, which is right after lunch. I was wondering what kind of menu should they have for the guest. I mean they want to make a brisket and other side foods for it, but the shower is after lunch and I'm sure most of the gust would have eaten by then. And I'm sure I'm not going to wait till then to have lunch. So what kind of food would anyone recommend to have at a shower thats at 2 pm?

Either put that you will serve a meal on your invitations (so people will wait on lunch) or put out little finger foods and small snacks(cheese/cracker/fruit tray, mini sandwiches, veggies & dip etc...)

If they are intent on having a meal at your shower, just eat a small snack around lunch so you won't be starving.

Let them make what they want. People expect food at a shower, and if it's good, no one cares what it is. Just be thankful that they are doing this for you. You won't eat until 3:00 at the earliest if it starts at 2:00. Call it an early dinner if you'll already have lunch.

I love to cook, I love to cater parties. To me, a baby shower should have an amazing spread because that is what people will remember.

Even if you just put out snack food have a good spread. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a decent variety. Put out some cut vegetables, and maybe carve out a watermelon into the shape of a baby carriage and fill it with cut fruit... mini quiche, mini sandwiches, anything small and cute is nice. And of course chocolate deserts!

I just went to one that had crab cakes, a veggie tray, meatballs, and later after gifts a cake. It was all great! People won't expect a meal, but you should always have food on hand. A great punch recipe is Sprite with sherbert in it. It's baby colored and tasty!

just tell people to have a light snack for lunch and then come to your baby shower for brunch.

I would suggest small sandwich's, veggie tray, cake and punch!
