We just moved in to a new house and are gone A LOT. the neighborhood kids are in our front yard all the time even when I'm home they knock on the door, they stole my trash can twice in a month, they flung paint all over the front of our house, and I'm finding out now that they are breaking open our back fence and getting in. Before we moved in they broke two doors and got inside the house. they are like 4-7 years old.. I have told them to stay out the police have gone to their parents house and told them and still the PARENTS DON'T CARE. What do I do now?

Get a dog,a rottweiler that barks a lot or any other type of guard dog. That,or place a lock around the fence door.If they still get in,throw water at them, they'll go crying to their parents.

Definitely call the police and file a report. The more reports you file, then when something really bad happens (i.e. broken window, stolen items, damage to other personal property) then there is a record of the report and they will be the first to be questioned. Other than that, put up a fence, get a dog and securely post a Beware of Dog sign on the fence. IF they cross over the fence then you have grounds to call the police because they are not only trespassing but harassing your dog. That will get their parents attention. Its a lot more work to play in someones yard when you have to jump the fence, than it is to just ride into it on your razor scooter.

Step 1) Buy a good quality surveillance camera

Step 2) Once have proof of either vandolism and/or breaking and entering, file a police report and press charges against vandalism on the children and/or breaking and entering. (even at 4-7 years old it is considered that if they are going into your backyard)

Step 3) Sue the parents for any damage their children do, you now have the evidence of the video footage and the police report.

Once this all happens, I'm sure the parents will start caring....

Definitely get a dog.

Second, what the other guy said about surveillance. It might be expensive, but it sounds to me that you're already occurring expenses because of these two brats, so in the long run, it will save you.

Also, the next thing they break, take the parents to small claims court, keep a detailed list of everything they break, have it appraised of how much it will cost to repair and everything, even the trash cans!

Get a dog for the back and put up "No Trespassing" signs. That way if something does happen, you can either prosecute them, or if they get hurt, you can say that it is there own fault for not heeding the warnings.

Also, buy a security alarm for your house. I prefer Smith and Wesson.

i have a similar problem, we have acreage and the neighbouhood brats like to come in with their dirt bikes. i would be doing what Chad B suggests.

to cover your but put up private property- no trespassing signs. that way if they get hurt while trespassing, you're covered

(or at least you are where I am!)

don't get a dog, it is cruel to the animal if you are not home often to care for it, and who knows what those brats would do to it?
