There is no way to tell aside from checking for a hymen, but even that tells you nothing as it can be broken from a tampon, riding a bike or horse, or virtually any other strenuous activity.

It'd be a violation of HIPAA for your daughter's doctor to tell you anything without her express consent. Even with it, most doctors won't.

There is a little thing called patient confidentiality (though yes sometimes broken) and this goes for teens too, unless there is a life-threatening act being committed, to self or others. Parents are allowed to see general medical information, or substance abuse with consent from the patient. There are some states that are trying to make it mandatory that sex under 16(depending on state) be reported as sexual abuse. But you have to realize that if you did your best to try to stop sex, and you invade her privacy (if you have a gyno who doesn't care) that you will probably create more problems then need be. As a teen they go to the gyno and believe that what they say can be trusted. And it hurts when that trust is broken as I had it done for me for a lift-threatening act. You feel this need to keep things to yourself, and can create problems when a teen does have a serious problem such as STD.

Make sex an OK topic, and not a taboo one, and maybe instead of sneaking through her gyno she will tell you herself.

A gyno can tell if sex was recently performed, and patients are encouraged to not have sex the day before an appt. because it can result in an abnormal pap smear, I'm not sure if this is the same for condom users, but there are substances on a condom that I assume could interfere. A torn hymen can also be observed but many teens tear their hymen through sports.

They can tell if her hymen is broken, but that can happen without sex. I broke mine falling on a bicycle bar. It depends on the state you live in and where you take her. Some states do not let a doctor discuss reproductive issues with a parent, especially if your 14 year old doesn't want you told. I would consider having better communication with your daughter. Even if you find out she is sexually active from a doctor, it will hurt and possibly destroy any trust and future relationship with your daughter. Please think about this before forcing her into a pelvic exam...if she is NOT sexually active, this could be very traumatic for her...and you in the long run. Best of luck.

there is not any thank you to quite tell, as stated in the previous a woman's "cherry" or hymen could be broken in strategies different than intercourse such as activities, incorrect tampon utilization, working, or different activities, so this is not unavoidably clean if the girl is having intercourse. With all due admire, i think of that in case you're making plans on taking your daughter to a gynecologist to make certain if she's a virgin you're drawing close this in the incorrect way. in line with possibility try speaking along with her, she could or will possibly no longer permit you already know the fact, yet nonetheless if there's a possibility she is having intercourse or making plans to, make constructive she knows a thank you to do it competently and dodge being pregnant and stds. besides the actual undeniable fact that it ought to no longer be the least confusing component to settle for, this is going to likely be extra smart for the two considered one of you in case you already know she is a minimum of secure.

They can't tell for sure because the hymen can be broken by tampons, sports, or sexual toys. Anyway, I don't think most OB/GYNs would openly give the information, because they want the patient to feel comfortable asking questions and getting advice. Unless you are worried about her safety, I wouldn't push the issue.

afaik a gyne can't be 100% sure. It depends.

There are times when having sex can leave no marks. The hymen sometimes can be elastic and wont break
