Can you request for a birth certificate before the baby is born, or do you have to wait until the baby is born? Does it vary from county to county? My friend had a baby with this chic and she said that when she went to the Dr. before the baby was born, she put in a request for the birth certificate. We don't believe it, she says it's different where she lives, she lives in Monterey County in California.

You cant get a BIRTH certificate until after the BIRTH. All of the birth information is on the birth certificate. You fill out the paperwork to file for the certificate in the hospital before you leave.

The birth certificate lists the baby's parents name, the baby's name, date of birth and hospital. If none of that has happend yet, they cant send it out. The girl is lying. It is possible that the office had her fill out the parents info before hand so that all they had to do was add the baby's info after the birth, but there is no way it is complete.

A birth certificate is issued when a baby is born. Stating parents, place of birth etc. But most importantly Date of birth if the baby hasn't been born yet there is no way for this to be predicted.

So i'm sorry but no.

You can't get a BIRTH certificate until AFTER the birth. There's no way for you to fill it out completely until after the fact. She may have done some preliminary stuff, but you can't actually file for a birth certificate until the baby is born. There would be no record of the birth for them to even request. You know what I mean? Either your friend was misinformed about what she was filling out, didn't understand it or is flat out lying.

No, not unless there is a MEDICAL reason for amniocentesis (which will add several thousand to the bill cause it is a surgical procedure), it is very doubtful an ob is going to do one (even if you are paying for the birth, and by the way she might just qualify for medicaid even if she has private insurance and it won't pay for a normal pregnancy) just because you want to make sure you are baby's daddy. And at 1 month (are you even sure she is pregnant?) it is too early to be worrying about about any of this. Wait till the baby is born and then do the dna test. You sound a little controlling and should feel honored that she wants to have a baby with you.

I'm afraid that's sort of like asking for a death certificate before you die.

In addition to the information that you don't have (such as date of birth... sort of a key piece of inforamtion on a birth certificate), birth certificates I believe are also limited to live births. So if the baby is still born for any reason, there wouldn't be a birth certificate issued.

A birth certificate is a legal document, and can not be issued until a birth has occured. This is standard practice everywhere, it does not vary from location to location (within the US, anyway).

A birth certificate contains information that can not be provided before the birth, such as place of birth, date and time of birth, etc. etc.

first of all you can not get a birth certificate because your not 100% sure of the sex, day of birth and location. you will have all the papers to fill out in the hospital after you give birth. that way all the papers are correct and then you will receive the birth certificate form and a amount to pay. you pay the amount and they will mail your certificate to you of your new baby. in wyoming i believe it is $12 for each new certificate. i could be wrong but its not too high.

That's impossible. As the above poster said, there would be no way to fill out all the information accurately. You can't apply for a birth certificate until after a child is born.

The SOLE purpose of a birth certificate is to verify a birth! You can't get a birth certificate until a baby is born. That's crazy to think otherwise.

No you can't. But after the baby is born you can go to the county recorder and get a copy. Check the link below and it will tell you how to get a copy of the birth cert.

There is no such thing as a birth certificate for someone that isn't born yet.

yeah. there is absolutely no way. the point of a BIRTH certificate is to show proof of a BIRTH. just like you wouldn't ask for a death certificate for someone who was still alive.
